Start of another project

Finally made a start on the much awaited Christmas tree skirt. I've sewn the large petals together but of course no matter how careful and precise you think you've been it doesn't lay flat.  So next job is to carry on tweaking until it does before I iron the seams.

Project #11

Just a small project, making an anniversary card for my hubby.  Used my new bargain stamps, and as usual it didn't turn out quite how I imagined!

Grapes!

Some years ago I picked up a vine from Poddingtons going cheap.  And this year I have grapes! They may not be edible but nice to see.

A little gift

My 1st attempt at making a little lavender house hanger for a new home gift. My Friend is moving to the coast so the nautical themed fabric I had was perfect.  Also used the blanket stitch on sewing machine for the first time ever!

Project #10

I was a little naughty last week when I made a visit to Coleman's Warehouse.  I spotted the Stamps Away step shelf  which I needed!  Had seen Ali on C&C recently and had a thought that this would be great at the flower festival this year for displaying lots of handmade goodies.   Painted it with gesso then used Cosmic shimmer Matt Chalk paint in Honeysuckle. Painted the edges with PaperArtsy Toad Hall followed by crackle accent and then lightly rubbed over with the honeysuckle.  Papers used are from K and Co Ancestry collection.  Undecided whether to add more decoration but for now it's ready to use.

project #9

Another something for the shoeboxes. They had started out as loo roll covers!

Project #8

My first attempt at up cycling. Found 3 new fabric napkins in a charity shop, washed them and decided to experiment using 1 to create cushion.  Pink lace found at last years craft fair in Birmingham used to edge and create a centre decoration finished with a big button.  Hoping someone will like it at the flower festival in September.

Another experiment. Idea inspired by a lovely lady at alittleshabbychic on YouTube. A fancy pin cushion filled with a little lavender and a crochet flower I had given to me some years ago. Another hopeful for the flower festival.

Project #7

I really wanted to make a start on sewing my Christmas tree skirt but I've been wanting to make a thread catcher for ages, to reduce the mess I make.

So finally that's what I did instead using my owl fabric and charms that my friend Jenny brought me (I do like Owls) Can you see the little owl charm glued on the button?  I love the idea the pin cushion can be detached.
Found fantastic instructions on
http://www.sallysaidsew.com/2012/08/pincushion-with-thread-catcher-bag.html

Might make more!!!

A few things ready for the flower festival in September

A lovely lady at Church makes us bits and bobs.  Rightly or wrongly I couldn't help have a go at turning something plain into something pretty:
I hand sewn on the lace, including the butterflies ( brilliant find in the newly opened works) and glued on the pearl necklace too.  It doesn't have to be a loo roll holder!

Also enjoyed making these shabby chic inspired heart lavender hangers:

You can also see another project, upcycling............

Project #6

Made this quick cushion cover using the Cat Pattern out of a Crafts Beautiful Magazine. Best thing didn't cost a thing as I had everything already including the cushion pad!

Simple!

Project #5

My 1st attempt at decoupage and used pretty napkin tissue.

The MDF letters where a gift from my friend Jenny. I gesso the letters before sticking with napkin tissue and when dried painted over with matte finish mod podge. Used flat canvas boards to mount and twine to link together. A simple project.

Birthday Cards

Not done a lot recently, been on holiday and enjoyed a relaxing week on the Norfolk coast and spent time potting in the garden.

I've made these birthday cards for this next month.  A simple one as it may need to be posted and the first one is something I enjoyed experimenting with.  I love these old black and white photo's from Pion. I've used a few recently, made a frame using lace and beading adding some gorjuss metal corners. The little flower arrangement is based on Anna Maria Designs YouTube demo, very talented lady, using the calla lilies for the first time.

Ta dah! Project #4

A long over due project finally finished. A combination of an idea found in a past scrapbook magazine date ( approx. Oct 2011)  and contributor unknown ( don't have info ). Along with inspiration from the following YouTube stars.

The house box was brought 3 years ago when Jenny  and I  went to our first Great British Craft Festival that's how long it's been in the pipeline! Used some new stuff and old which has been great. I love my little butterfly  he was metal and I tried to paint him white without success then I remembered I had some shabbyblue emboss enamel from long ago, it worked a treat so will need to buy more butterflies from scotch lodge !

Really went out of my comfort zone with this but enjoyed it and pleased with the outcome. On to the next!!

Project #3

A little one experimenting with my new craft imagination paints and trying for a shabby chic look, Umm.  I also used a Tando Creative kit that a very nice friend brought me a few years ago.

A simple make for the shoeboxes

Found these kraft matchboxes in Colemans Warehouse  and thought good size for a little sewing kit. The boxes have been simply decorated and a coating of modge podge gloss for a bit of durability.  Inside are 4 card bobbins with different colour threads, a homemade needle and pin matchbook, white buttons, safety pins and they will also have a measuring tape. Scissors will be in the separate sewing bag!

Lent Projects #3

These are a sample of the sewing and craft kits.  They still need scissors and actual little sewing kits to finish them completely. There's 12 craft, some of which could be suitable for boys and 9 sewing bags.

Lent Project #2

Finally finished knitting this sleeping bag for a doll I purchased last year.  A small project really but it took for ever, not helped by reading the pattern wrong and then losing my place! But satisfied it's done.  Have also brought a feeding bottle to put in the shoebox with her.

Lent project #1

A little slow to get off the mark, but I have made a start on this years giving time to make things to include in the OCC shoebox appeal. These had a popular brand name on that I needed to cover. Three down 3 to go, not sure what I'll put in them yet.

Project #2

I I brought this blank frame a while ago from the pound man at one of the Birmingham shows. I originally had in my mind something along the idea of seasons. But then I watched a talented lady on you tube  alittleshabbychic, and I was inspired to at least paint it white and started to look for pretty papers. At the craft shows last year I picked up the B and D again from the poundman! I do like a bargain, it was when I was moving things around yet AGAIN I popped these into the frame out the way and I knew I'd use them with it. Even the little white frames where a pack from the pound man.

2016

I have decided to document my completed projects here on the blog. A slow start as usual.
